About

Our objective at JIM Music is to help students reach their personal goals as each student is unique and learns music for a different reason. A common objective we strive towards for all students is to lay a firm foundation in music so that the student can continue building on that foundation for years to come in the way he/she chooses.

We focus on teaching only two instruments – the keyboard and guitar to provide our students maximum flexibility in terms of timings and availability.

We teach modern music – instead of focusing a lot on musical theory like more traditional schools, our focus is to help students master notation reading so that they can put theoretical knowledge into practical use quickly. We have a structured grade system with regular examinations and certification which sets us apart from individual music teachers or smaller schools. Our books are accompanied with audio to facilitate self-learning so the student is not dependent on the teacher to make progress.

We teach a unique westernized-Indian notation that rivals the western staff notation in functionality yet has its roots in classical Indian music. In effect, this syllabus is a bridge between musical worlds and gives students a well-rounded education that they can use to further their skills in any genre of music.

The notation is easy to understand and learn, and our teachers have reported much faster student progress with the JIM notation when compared to the western staff notation. Additionally, our syllabus has been carefully crafted to not only teach students progressive skills but also make sure learning is fun and exciting.
